THE WORST TOOL OF AREWA: HOW TINUBU MANIPULATES A REGION THROUGH ITS ELECTED WEAKLINGS AND RELIGIOUS CONFUSION

The tragedy of Arewa today is not that it lacks numbers, intellect, or faith — it is that it has too many elected idiots and spiritually confused elites who have traded the soul of the North for crumbs from the southern table.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, an astute strategist and political survivor, has not conquered the North through superior ideas or vision, but through the manipulation of its internal contradictions. He understands the weakness of Arewa’s political class — the greed of its officeholders, the fear of its clergy, and the gullibility of its self-acclaimed intellectuals.
He knows that while the North has numerical dominance, it lacks unified consciousness. Its politicians fight for personal survival, not collective dignity. They preach unity in public and negotiate betrayal in private. The same men who were expected to defend the region’s interest are the first to auction it for appointments, contracts, and empty promises. These are the elected idiots of Arewa — products of political decay who neither represent the poor nor understand the power of history.
Tinubu has mastered the art of playing one faction against another — Muslims against Christians, core North against Middle Belt, clerics against reformers — keeping everyone distracted while consolidating control. The Christian political elite, in particular, have been lured into believing they are partners in a new national project, when in reality they are pawns in a chess game that ends the same way: the North divided, disarmed, and directionless.
What we now witness is a deliberate deconstruction of Arewa’s political identity — through economic neglect, insecurity, and subtle replacement of influence with patronage. The North is being pacified with slogans while its power base is slowly dismantled.
It is not Tinubu’s genius that keeps the North subdued — it is Arewa’s failure to unite beyond religion, tribe, and stomach politics. A region once revered for discipline and political awareness is now the easiest to manipulate, the quickest to forget betrayal, and the hardest to mobilize for its own defense.
If Arewa does not wake up soon — to reclaim its voice, redefine its leadership, and rebuild its moral compass — it will remain a sleeping giant used by every opportunist who understands how to tickle its divisions.
The North is not powerless; it is merely leaderless.
And as long as it continues to produce leaders who serve Abuja more than their people, the manipulation will persist — until the giant awakes, not to roar, but to reclaim.
