FIRST Centenary Celebration Report OF GENERAL MURTALA MUHAMMAD COLLEGE, GMMC YOLA. BY SA'ADU ABUBAKAR GAMBE.   Chairman Adhoc Committee for the Centenary Celebration of the National Tiddo Yo Daddo Alumni Association of General Murtala Muhammed College, (GMMC) Yola.  PREAMBLE  General Murtala Muhammed College, GMMC, Yola is one of the oldest grammar schools in Northern Nigeria. It started in 1920 as Elementary School than later upgraded to Middle School Yola. It metamorphosed to Provincial Secondary School, PSS, Yola, a grammar school, with the enrolment into form (year) one of a six years secondary education system then, of the Ibrahim Alfa, Hassan Adamu, Alhaji Natiti, Sale Michika and others in January 1955. In 1976 the school was renamed Government Secondary School, GSS, Yola in memory of the slain Head of State, General Murtala Muhammed, who was assassinated during a failed military coup in February 1976.
