Brief History of Fulani People

Image
The origins of the Fulani people are unclear and various theories have been postulated. As a nomadic herding people, they have moved through and among many other cultures. Skutsch notes that there oral histories point toward a start in Jordan or farther east, but also their language comes from the Senegambian region. He concludes that the modern Fulani people began in the northern Senegambian region[1] Walter Rodney in his book “The History of the Upper Guinea Coast”, argues that Fulbe are originally from North Africa and they conquered the Foota Djallon region led by the Fulani Koli Tenguella. The ethnogenesis of the Fulani people may have begun as a result of interactions between an ancient West African population and North African populations such as Berbers or Egyptians.[1] Their West African roots may be in and around the valley of Senegal River.[2] They likely reflect a genetic intermix of people with West African, North African, and Arabian origins, and have been a part of many

Engineer Hassan Suleiman's post is worth a review   Image 1&2: Screenshots of Engr Hassan’s post On the 6th of March 2022, on the Platform TYD Old Boys, Engr. Hassan Noted: That there was no need for TYD members to worry, as the President of TYD, Admiral Murtala Nyako has already suggested June as the period for the centenary celebration. One hundred years Celebration requires due diligence. He said the TYD President, Admiral Murtala Nyako has a lot of contributions to make to the college. Hassan commended the LOC for the achievements made, by particularly, the Alumni members who contributed by picking lots for the facelift of the school. However, he said somethings must be done soonest to arrest the mismanagement of the school by the current school authorities. TIDDO YO DADDO NATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CENTENARY CELEBRATION OF GMMC YOLA: THE UNFORSEEN HAPPENED. THE DEFERMENT TO March/April, 2022. The attention of the AD-HOC LOC was drawn to serious technical problems which nacessitate the deferment of the December  20th to 22nd, 2021 date fixed by the Congress. This did not come as a surprise as Adhoc LOC found itself face to face with the realities of phase 2 different from phase 1 where endowed alumni members responded beyond expectations to our calls to upgrade the school facilities hitherto in ruins, to give the 100 year old iconic school a facelift in line with its centenary Celebrations.  While we were on phase one, Adhoc LOC was very concious of time and drew attention of our Endowed alumni to collaborate, cooperate, sponsor events, donate funds, and avail their expertise from time to time for the phase two finals, but feeble attention was given to it. Adhoc LOC even suggested membership levies or membership dues to be paid to augment

Behold! The second birthday anniversary of the Adhoc Committee, a creation of the Congress of the TYD National Alumni Association of the great school, General Murtala Muhammad College, GMMC Yola comes up on Tuesday the 16th of November, 2021. Like the twinkle of the eyes, two years has rolled by stealthly,  barely noticed. Even though with flurry of Adhoc Committee's activities, strategies and planning to beat the Centenary year Celebration timelines. A near miraculous or impossible assignment to achieve, going by standards set for preparations for such celebration in other climes. An example I often refer to was the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Federal Government College Sokoto. Alumni Association members of the FGCS started preparations for their 50 years' Golden Jubilee celebr

ATTENTION: PHASE TWO OF THE 100 YEARS CELEBRATION. The Phase two of the centenary celebration of the iconic school, (for the benefit of the elder alumni), the former Elementary School,  the Middle School, the Provincial Secondary School, PSS Yola, then the Government Secondary School, GSS Yola and now General Murtala Muhammad College, GMMC Yola, which will be the crowning series of activities to mark the 100 years of the great school, is scheduled to be held in the last week of December, 2021. The Congress fixed the December period by voting during the general meeting held in the college in mid 2021. That decision cancelled AD-HOC suggestions for an earlier date for the celebration.
