THREE KIDNAP EPISODES IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS, LEAVING THREE YOUTHS DEAD IN GAMBE VILLAGE AREA TOLA DISTRICT, MAYO BELWA LGA. ADAMAWA STATE.
On behalf of the Gambe Community, the Gambe Development Association, GDA is making this passionate report of security concerns for the Gambe Community that experienced three episodes related to kidnappers on the prowl in Gambe Village area in less than two months, beginning late February, 27th and last night, 18th March 2025:
1. Three young men, two of them from the same father (Mumini Usman and Yunusa Usman) and the third boy (name not confirmed yet) from Tibabara, another near-by hamlet, were shot and one died on the spot, the other two died on the way and at health centers hours later. Gambe Development Association, GDA made the report to the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamawa Police Command Yola, who showed concerns and made inquiries as to whether the O/C Tola and DPO Mayo Belwa LGA were informed. He promised to act as soon as possible.
2. Barely a week or two after the killing of the young men, on the 10th of March 2025, Shagari Joda Alhaji, a Gambe resident trader was kidnapped from his house, after more than one hour operation without any challenge from anyone and he was released few days after paying 5 million naira ransom money out of the 20 million demanded. The family members didn't report to O/C Tola Police Division for fear of repercussions. They were told that they would be killed or the kidnapped victim would be killed if they report to police! Gambe Development Association, GDA reported to the CP Adamawa Police Command who assured necessary actions will be taken. GDA was grateful and prayerful, hoping for the quick intervention from the security agencies. Meanwhile, the kidnappers are having a field day and striking in quick successions leaving Gambe residents in trauma, deaths, destructions and huge ransom money payments.
3. Last night, 18th of March 2025, just about 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Isha/Tarawi Muslim prayer times, Idrisu BabaAkuya of Sala Hamlet, few kilometers outside Gambe town was taken away by gun wielding gang of kidnappers. The sequestered population was watching, helplessly. The kidnappers took away more than 30 to 40 handset phones at commercial charging pots and from anyone crossing their way. They had enough time and drilled the residents who were at the shops.
4. OBSERVATIONS.
 Though Gambe Village area in the Tola Binyeri District is the most populated, richly endowed, producing Agricultural products such as grains, yam tubers, Irish potatoes, avocado peers and solid minerals such as Blue Sapphire, Agate, Tourmaline, Torbernite etc. with the first Barite mining site in Adamawa State. Inspite of these endowments Gambe Village area has no standard roads, standard Cottage Hospital, standard market shops or a security Police station. All the mentioned facilities were required way back in the 1970s, over 50 years ago when the first motor vehicle reached Gambe in 1974 from Tola district headquarters, 24 km away. Inspite of these shortages Gambe never stopped growing and expanding in the spheres of solid minerals, agric produce and demographic advantages. It is sad to note the following:
i. These kidnapping episodes happening in Gambe Village area within the spate of two months calls, for serious investigations. There are more to what the eyes can see!
ii. From the first episode, the killing of three youths, the kidnapping of Shagari Alhaji Joda and now the kidnapping of Idrisu Baba-Akuya, there hasn't been any responses, sympathy or solidarity visits from the Tola District Head Office, nor the Adamawa Emirate Council Yola. Even without formal reports, the stories were whispered everywhere for caring authorities to make queries.
iii. There hasn't been any response from the O/C Tola Police Division nor from the DPO, Mayo Belwa, the LGA headquarters. While the CP Adamawa Police Command assured action is being planned, he was yet to receive formal reports from the Police Division Mayo Belwa. 
iv. There hasn't been any response from the Gangfada Ward Councillor, the House of Assembly Member representing Nassarawo Binyeri Constituency in the state assembly and above all no response from the Chairman Mayo Belwa LGA Adamawa State. Each of the offices/officers may have reasons for no response but human lives and properties are being over run brazenly by criminals.
v. The no response list includes the Hon. Member Federal House of Representatives and the Senator representing the Adamawa South Senatorial District.
The complete silence and lack of show of concerns and solidarity with the helpless Gambe Community in Gangfada Ward of Mayo Belwa LGA Adamawa State is a serious worry for the community who have been participating in all civil duties as tax payers, voters of government representatives at all levels of governance and cooperating and collaborating in all developmental matters. The residents, through the Gambe Development Association, GDA are requesting the relevant Authorities, at the local, state and federal levels to please come to their aids to save their lives and properties, just as is done to other Nigerians protected from the terrorist, bandits and kidnappers. It would be noted that Gambe in the last seven or so years had several kidnapping episodes, during which one of the victims, Hammanjoda Mafindi alone was kidnapped three times, he lost his brother in one such case and he made huge ransom payments. Also, another Hamman Joda Tibabara, during the same period was kidnapped twice, one such case was with the arrangement of his junior brother. Other victims, like Kadiri Zaki, made huge ransom payments before gaining freedom. But there was a lull, a two year relief when police and local vigilante groups (Baba Usman Tola Group) combed the hilly hideouts. Two months ago the kidnapping again resurfaced on a more vicious and venomous scale. PLEASE SAVE OUR SOULS,

The community neither has the strength nor the powers to face the marauding kidnappers on the prowl .

ATTENTION: PHASE TWO OF THE 100 YEARS CELEBRATION. The Phase two of the centenary celebration of the iconic school, (for the benefit of the elder alumni), the former Elementary School,  the Middle School, the Provincial Secondary School, PSS Yola, then the Government Secondary School, GSS Yola and now General Murtala Muhammad College, GMMC Yola, which will be the crowning series of activities to mark the 100 years of the great school, is scheduled to be held in the last week of December, 2021. The fears expressed on the probable return to the 1966 scenario of doom and uncertainties hanging in the atmosphere, the absence of trust and confidence in the next person with you or near you if he happened not to be from your region or your tribe or religious persuasion.
