ADHOC LOC: Appointment of Ambassadors in States and local chapters

ADHOC LOC FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES IN STATES AND LOCAL/DIASPORA CHAPTERS OF THE TYD.

Following the review of modalities for fundraising activities earlier proposed by the Adhoc LOC, the STATES, ZONAL AND DIASPORA CHAPTERS ARE CALLED UPON TO GO AHEAD AND ORGANISE THEIR FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES ACCORDING TO THEIR PLANS. The Ad-hoc Local Organising Committee, LOC for the Centenary celebration assessed the timelines and concluded that the Fundraising SteeringTeam earlier slated to visit state chapters for physical interactions can no longer undertake the exercise because of lack of funds and the time to the last week of December 2021 finals.

Adhoc LOC however, advise the various chapters to prepare and organise their versions of the fundraisers. Ad-hoc LOC has appointed/nominated some keen alumni association members, some of who attended the LOC meeting recently on fundraising activities or those found to be active participants on the TYD Centenary and  media platforms. Those appointed are ambassadors of the LOC in their state chapters of the fundraising activities. The ambassadors will assist in the mobilization of members of the state or zones to carryout their fund raising activities. The Ad-hoc LOC Ambassadors are urged to:

1. Call meetings/attention of all TYD members of their state or zones.

2. Together, select/elect officials of the state fund raising Committee.

3. Keep records and list of their officials to be forwarded to LOC.

4. The selected/elected State Fundraising Committee will decide the fundraising events of the state or the zone,

i. Donations only? Or

ii. Fixed Contributions

iii. Fundraising Dinner, Novety games, Raffle Draw etc or all of the above.

iv. State Officials are to account for all funds realized at the fundraisers and lodge proceeds in LOC Centenary Account number 1211640674. Zenith Bank.

v. All fundraising records are to be forwarded to LOC for acknowledgements and records.

5. Efforts should be made to complete all fundraising activities by the 31st of October 2021 or latest, 2nd week of November. This is to enable funds to be used in the preparations and purchases of gift items, honors items, takeaways and printing of cards, certificates, magazines, protocols etc, before the final week in December 2021.

6. Ad-hoc LOC is relying on the spirit of cooperation, collaboration and camaraderie of the living alumni of the century old school from 1920 to the youngest of the 2020 AD. LOC has faith and confidence in the members whose  enthusiastic and endowed to pay back to the institution that moulded their future to make them what they become today. The committee prays that TYD Alumni MEMBERS WILL LIVE UP TO THE OCCASION , WHICH COMES BUT ONCE IN ONE HUNDRED YEARS.

7. It is a privilege to witness the Centenary Celebration of this iconic school; the former Yola Elementary school, the Middle School transformed to Provincial Secondary School, PSS Yola, Government Secondary School, GSS Yola and now General Murtala Muhammad College, GMMC Yola.

💯100 YEARS OF GMMC YOLA. By next year, 2020, the school, General Murtala Muhammad College (GMMC) Yola will clock one hundred years of its establishment. The former Middle School Yola has under gone several mutations in nomenclature. Starting as the Middle School, a male boarding senior primary school in 1920 it metamorphosed to a secondary grammar school with a broader curriculum. It was established initially to give western education to the citizen of the province and beyond. The aims and objectives were expanded to provide the man power needs of the colonial administration and that of the soon to be independent Nigeria. TIDDO YO DADDO NATIONAL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION CENTENARY CELEBRATION OF GMMC YOLA: THE UNFORSEEN HAPPENED. THE DEFERMENT TO March/April, 2022. The attention of the AD-HOC LOC was drawn to serious technical problems which nacessitate the deferment of the December  20th to 22nd, 2021 date fixed by the Congress. This did not come as a surprise as Adhoc LOC found itself face to face with the realities of phase 2 different from phase 1 where endowed alumni members responded beyond expectations to our calls to upgrade the school facilities hitherto in ruins, to give the 100 year old iconic school a facelift in line with its centenary Celebrations.  While we were on phase one, Adhoc LOC was very concious of time and drew attention of our Endowed alumni to collaborate, cooperate, sponsor events, donate funds, and avail their expertise from time to time for the phase two finals, but feeble attention was given to it. ATTENTION: PHASE TWO OF THE 100 YEARS CELEBRATION. The Phase two of the centenary celebration of the iconic school, (for the benefit of the elder alumni), the former Elementary School,  the Middle School, the Provincial Secondary School, PSS Yola, then the Government Secondary School, GSS Yola and now General Murtala Muhammad College, GMMC Yola, which will be the crowning series of activities to mark the 100 years of the great school, is scheduled to be held in the last week of December, 2021. The fears expressed on the probable return to the 1966 scenario of doom and uncertainties hanging in the atmosphere, the absence of trust and confidence in the next person with you or near you if he happened not to be from your region or your tribe or religious persuasion. In 1966 the atmosphere was charged and people were looking over their shoulders in order not to miss any happenings. First, I was in Gambe Village on the 15th of January when the sudden and unexpected news of the killing of the Sardauna Sokoto, the Premier of the Northern Region was announced over the Radio Kaduna.
